Barclay willow / Bluejoint / Marsh fivefinger

Accuracy assessment: None of the polygons interpreted as LB2-5 or LB52 on aerial photographs were field checked.

The rare LB25 complex occurs near the Homer Airport where a shallow water table, sedge-dominated LB2 component occurs with a bluejoint (Calamagrostis canadensis) dominated component (LB5).  They are too small and uncommon to be seen on the range map, above.

When sphagnum moss communities (LB3) and shrub dominated communities (LB4) are also present at a scale too fine to delineate at 1:25,000 the complex is named LB2-5.  Bluejoint often indicates disturbance.

None of the LB2-5 units have been visited, but one, along Kalifonsy Beach Road near Kasilof, is apparently disturbed and another, along upper Clam Creek, appears undisturbed (on the 1996 aerial photography).  It apparently has a large area of bluejoint at one end of a more or less segregated wetland, along with wetter sedge components fringed by both sphagnum and shrubby components.
