Instructions for using the ArcView mapping link to the wetland description documents System Requirements: Windows NT, XP, 2000, or 98 OS Minimum of 128 mb RAM Nice if faster than 800 MHz processor Access 2000 ArcView 3.2 or 3.3 A web browser- Netscape or Internet Explorer. This was set up using a screen resolution of 1024x768, and probably works best with this. Otherwise your ArcView windows will seem odd- but you can resize them once the project is open. o Unzip the pilot.zip, it will create a folder named aknhp (and subfolders). * Navigate to ‘..aknhp\accessLink\AccessLinkLTD.avx’ and copy it to ‘..\ESRI\AV_GIS30\ARCVIEW\EXT32’. * Open MSAccess 2000, load '..aknhp\accessLink\WebPilot.mdb', size the window to occupy the lower 1/3 of your screen, or so. * Open ArcView 3.2 or 3.3, size it to occupy the upper 2/3 or so of your screen. * Load the '..aknhp\pilot.apr' project into ArcView; pick a view to open- either Daryl’s fen or Soldotna Creek Watershed. * Under the new menu bar item, 'Access Link' choose ‘Select Key File (ALP)’, and navigate to '..aknhp\AccessLink\WebNHPpilot.alp', hit OK. You may need to hit OK again to close out the annoyanceware window that asks you to pony up $50 for the professional version of AccessLink. * Making sure that the proper theme is active, use the new yellow key tool, next to the ID tool, to click on a wetland polygon. If you click on an upland, or outside the study area, nothing will happen. If you click on a wetland, (or a point, with the allplots.shp theme active) a form will pop up in MSAccess with data. Much of the data will be hyperlinked to descriptions- click on the MSAccess window to make it active, then click on a link to fire up your web browser, which will load a file from the web, displaying descriptions and/or photos. * The .htm files '..aknhp\soldotnacreek.htm' and '..aknhp\darylsfen.htm' are FGDC compliant metadata for the two wetland shapefiles.
