Mud sedge (Carex limosa) - buckbean (Menyanthes trifoliata) has not been described for Alaska, though a few mud sedge types have been classified (Viereck et. al., 1992).

On the Kenai lowlands it was found in only one location, the edge of Sevena Lake in a large relict glacial drainageway, northeast of Mackey Lake.  Much of the southern shore is occupied by it.

Tussocks of mud sedge with water horsetail (Equisetum fluviatile) occupy micro-highs, while micro-lows, often with standing water, are occupied by buckbean, and marsh fivefinger (Comarum palustre).  

The site is a floating organic mat 140 centimeters thick extending over open water.  pH was measured at 5.67.  It is a jurisdictional wetland.
