NWI: R3US1

HGM: High Gradient Natural Stream-single thread waterfalls.

Accuracy assessment: 2 polygons interpreted as RAA on aerial photographs were field checked.  Both remained RAA.

RAA units are Rosgen's (1996) 'AA' streams: steep gradient waterfalls. Only a few RAA streams occur in the Kenai Lowlands Project area, mostly draining steep bluffs into Kachemak Bay.  These streams qualify as jurisdictional wetlands only along the watercourse and a very narrow strip alongside it.  Most RAA reaches are too short to be mapped separately.
