Accuracy assessment: None of the polygons interpreted as H4 on aerial photographs were field checked.

The uncommon H4 map component is a fen dominated by woodland or forest, in a headwater basin.  These wetlands have a deeper water table and a thick peat layer.  Most headwater fens occur above the limit of forest or woodland growth, but several have been mapped near the edge of that elevation limit.  A few lie in the northern headwaters of Deep  Creek; most of them are located in the Anchor River watershed.  None of them have been visited.
